Oct 3, 2022 · Before buying a game, Google if it’s PS4 version have a free upgrade to PS5, like Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Forbidden west etc. If it does not have a free upgrade, go with PS5 version. Some PS4 games don’t have a PS5 upgrade at all, but have patches from devs for 60 FPS like Outer Worlds.
Any actual game difference between a "PS5 disc" and a "PS4
PS5 disc will work only in PS5 disc systems, and it will have the PS5 copy of the game on the disc. PS4 disc will work on both the PS5 disc system and the PS4/Pro systems, but it’ll only have the PS4 version on-disc, so if you can’t download the PS5 patch (if available) on PS5, then it’ll just run the PS4 copy in back-compat mode.

Jul 19, 2023 · There were larger difference between PS1 and PS2, PS2 and PS3. PS1 and 2 were the early days of polygons. PS3 smoothed those out and refined it. But going from PS3 to PS4 and PS5 the differences were smaller. Yes there are more textures etc but the big differences in the ps4 and 5 from the earlier consoles were lighting effects and ray tracing.

The beauty in PS5 games is going to be in the details. Lighting. Particle effects. Loading times and more. Also these early games are going to be more similar. Wait 2-3 years and see what devs are doing and I’m sure there will be quite a difference. Just watching this 1080p stream today I could tell significant improvements over PS4.

I also read that the PS4 version gives you a free upgrade for the next-gen version. Now I saw some advertisements for some PS4 copies for around 10-15 euros while the PS5 ones are 60 euros.
