I feel like it's mentally taxing to pay attention to what the car is doing, and also to keep some pressure on the steering wheel but not so much that it thinks you are trying to take control. But I also feel like I could probably get used to it. Took me a solid month and a half to get 100% comfortable with one-pedal driving.

I note that all the self-driving systems are struggling with construction areas. Not surprising. This is where lane marking may need to be ignored and where signage (detours, flagmen, etc) may be invoked. The Tesla fatality (Apple Engineer trying to debug the software) was in a chronic construction area with a terrible layout.

Tesla CAN manage ALL aspects of driving in certain conditions without human intervention. There are thousands of videos online showing FSD completing 15, 30, 45, and even hour + long drives with 0 human intervention.

Jan 28, 2023 · Tesla just gets more cycles in peoples' brains than others do. this subreddit is a great example. someone sneezes in a Tesla and it gets posted to this sub as if it's relevant. I wish this sub just had a sticky for Tesla news so it does not need to be every 3rd post.

The car could even talk to the passenger to ask questions during extreme edge cases, or ask for help if e.g. a sensor is malfunctioning. The car could speak to people and neighboring vehicles. Probably other applications. What do y'all think, is this practical, necessary, desirable?

Jun 21, 2024 · Tesla's system still sucks with phantom braking and other annoyances, but from a public health perspective, self driving cars ARE going to reduce road fatalities. Self driving keeps getting better, while in my recent experience, humans keep getting more and more aggressive on the roads, resulting in constant rear end accidents from tailgating.

Feb 5, 2020 · This is exactly why I made this post. All the cars that I'm looking at are HW 2.0 but have the statement "Full Self-Driving Capability". That term "Capability" is super ambiguous. Tesla support indicated that everything is "paid for" under that heading. Therefore, i think you are correct, an update to HW 3.0 would be necessary.

Jun 10, 2023 · In a March presentation, Tesla claimed Full Self-Driving crashes at a rate at least five times lower than vehicles in normal driving, in a comparison of miles driven per collision. That claim, and Musk’s characterization of Autopilot as “unequivocally safer,” is impossible to test without access to the detailed data that Tesla possesses.
