Tiger Bay - Wikipedia
Tiger Bay (Welsh: Bae Teigr) was the local name for an area of Cardiff which covered Butetown and Cardiff Docks. Following the building of the Cardiff Barrage, which dams the tidal rivers, Ely and Taff, to create a body of water, it is referred to as Cardiff Bay.

Tiger Bay is one of the UK’s oldest multi-ethnic communities. The site grew massively due to the Industrial Revolution just over 200 years ago. Coal-mining brought many people to Cardiff to work on the docks. As coal production increased, so did the population.
