Heavy rains and flooding have killed at least 30 people in Beijing, after a year’s worth of rain fell in less than a week, according to state media. Beijing authorities said they have relocated a further 80,000 residents as rain continues.

Chinese state media say that 30 people have died in heavy rains and flooding in and around Beijing, raising the death toll from the flooding in the region to 34.

The victims were in the northern mountainous district of Beijing. A total of 28 people died in Miyun and two in Yanqing, according to the official state news agency Xinhua, cited from Al Jazeera.
