India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is named Lucknow Super Giants captain for the 2025 Indian Premier League following his record-breaking move.

Record-breaking wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been named captain of Indian Premier League team Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming edition of the lucrative T20 tournament, the franchise said Monday.

Pant became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL, being bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a massive Rs 27 crores during the IPL mega auction at Jeddah held in November last year.

Dynamic keeper-batter Rishabh Pant was on Monday named the captain of Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming IPL and he vowed to give his "200 percent" to win the team`s maiden title. Pant was picked at the mega auction for an IPL record Rs 27 crore by the franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka.

"I think Rishabh Pant is going to finish as one of the best IPL captains ever. In 10-12 years time, you would hear his name associated with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma," Goenka said.

Rishabh Pant was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping sum of Rs 27 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, making him the most expensive player in the tournament's history. Pant has led the Delhi Capitals in the IPL thus far in 43 matches across three seasons,
