Lt. Col. Ben Baker of the Texas Game Wardens, the state’s parks and wildlife department, deflected other questions about how quickly Kerr County officials responded to the flash flooding, saying officials were “focused on bringing people home.”

People gathered on Sunday along the roadsides and churches across Kerrville to mourn the loss of lives and pray for the ones still missing from the floods.

A massive Texas search and cleanup effort was set to enter its fifth day Tuesday in response to Guadalupe River flooding that surged through the area on July 4.
