Democratic Rep. Mike Levin has been reelected to a fourth term representing the 49th Congressional District, a race with national implications but one that remained too close to call until a week after Election Day.

Incumbent Republican Rep. Ken Calvert won re-election to California's 41st Congressional District – which was deemed a tossup by observers – against Democratic challenger Will Rollins. The current balance of power in the House of Representatives with Calvert's win is 217 to 207,

Democratic Congressman Mike Levin has claimed victory in the election. It comes after the official Associated Press election vote count showed him winning after a very tight race against Republican Matt Gunderson in the 49th District which includes the North County and parts of Orange County.
