Just over a year ago, Xbox was embroiled in Series S drama relating to mega-popular RPG Baldur's Gate 3 - developer Larian Studios just couldn't get split-screen running on the less-powerful machine. Well, a year on from Microsoft granting them the option to omit the feature, Larian has got split-screen co-op working on Xbox Series S.

The next big patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is rolling out and it has some grand new features for players in 2025. Perhaps most important for Xbox Series S players with friends is that splitscreen co-op will finally be available in Patch 8.

Following a bit of a false start yesterday, Baldur's Gate 3's Patch 8 stress test is now officially underway on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, giving select participants the opportunity to explore a range of new features ahead of its full release - with split-screen co-op support for Xbox Series S being the surprise (and long-awaited) inclusion.
