The Raiders have released Wilkins, they announced Thursday night on social media, one year into the five-year, $110 million deal they signed him to last offseason.

Raiders coach Pete Carroll said Friday the club didn't rush into its decision to release defensive tackle Christian Wilkins the day before over a dispute regarding his recovery from a broken foot.

According to reports, the Raiders believe Wilkins did not properly follow his rehab program, leading them to release him under the vested veteran designation.
