Ben Bohall with the Nebraska Forest Service says the snow melt we've experienced isn't enough to keep fires at bay, and with high winds Friday afternoon, Nebraska is under a high risk for wildfires.
The Nebraska Forest Service said wildfires in central Nebraska were nearly contained; however, much of the state was under a high risk for wildfires until 8 p.m. Friday.
"It's always worrisome because this wouldn't be the first time this happened," said Glenn Asche, who lives in Platte County between the Platte and Loup rivers.
