Students both in and outside of Greek life at the University of Missouri say that while they feel safe on campus, there are lessons to be learned from a disturbing incident Tuesday.

The university said a man, who isn't a student, entered the sorority house and briefly held someone against their will before he was arrested.

Police said Jeffrey Wheeland entered the Sigma Kappa sorority house at the University of Missouri, grabbed kitchen knives and went to a basement study room before he was arrested.

A Columbia man has been charged after he has been accused of forcing his way into a sorority house and locking himself in a room with another person. Jeffrey Wheelland Jr, 41, of Columbia is charged with first-degree burglary,
