Toll hikes on MTA bridges, tunnels take effect Sunday. Tolls will go up at MTA bridge and tunnel crossings on Sunday, including the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in the Bronx, seen in 2017.
MTA toll hikes that were approved last month officially went into effect on Sunday. Tolls for MTA bridges and tunnels increased by 6% for motorists with E-ZPass and 10% for tolls by mail.
Drivers heading into New York City for work got a little small but unpleasant surprise as they crossed the bridges and tunnels Monday morning, after rate hikes went into effect over the weekend.
As part of the deal, the MTA will be allowed to install cameras on its seven bridges and two tunnels, including the Verrazzano Bridge, the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge and the Queens-Midtown Tunnel.
