LIMESTONE COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - A Central Texas boy who is battling leukemia got a boost of joy this month after his favorite country music singers invited him backstage to their concerts in Houston.

Jimmie Rodgers, Fred Rose and Hank Williams were the inaugural class of Country Music Hall of Fame artists in 1961. 16 country artists are in both the Country Music and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame.

The year has gotten off to a rough start for country music fans as four legendary performers have already lost their lives. Ed Askew, a cult folk music singer/songwriter and painter, died on Jan. 4.
