SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers just finished Day 1 of training camp. One wide receiver decided not to hold out, another wide receiver pulled his hamstring, the franchise quarterback threw two interceptions, and the rookie first-round pick made a strong first impression.
“The 49ers, who’d run on the first play of camp in each of Shanahan’s previous eight seasons, pulled a deep play fake this time,” Lombardi said. “So the very opening snap of 2025 training camp saw Purdy drop a 40-yard dime into Kittle’s breadbasket on a corner route.”
Perhaps no coordinator in the NFL is under more pressure than Saleh, whom the 49ers pounced on in the offseason following his dismissal last Oct. 8 as head coach of the New York Jets. Saleh did some consulting for Green Bay, had a couple of head coaching interviews, but ultimately returned to the 49ers.
