Josh Duhamel stars as rancher Staten Kirkland on new Netflix series, Ransom Canyon. Staten is drowning in grief, having lost both his wife and son, but Duhamel calls the experience of playing such a character "cathartic.

Following the deaths of his wife and son, a Texas rancher fights to keep the land that is his family's legacy, and to win over the heart of the woman he's loved for years.

Duhamel was shocked to learn his 'Ransom Canyon' costar "didn't remember" sitting next to him on a plane ride from New York to L.A., he tells PEOPLE. "We had a full conversation!"
