Turski became a journalist and historian in postwar Poland and was a co-founder of Warsaw's landmark Jewish history museum.

Holocaust survivor Marian Turski, who became a journalist in Poland and headed an international committee of Auschwitz survivors, has died at the age of 98, said the Polish weekly magazine Polityka, where he worked as a columnist.

Marian Turski, the Polish-Jewish historian, journalist, advocate of Polish-Jewish dialogue and a former prisoner of the World War Two Nazi-German death camp Auschwitz, has died at the age of 98.

Marian was our teacher, he was our moral voice and mentor," Poland's chief rabbi said. "He was steeped in Jewish wisdom and used it to guide us on how to face today’s problems."
