Simon Fisher-Becker’s death was announced on Sunday by his husband in a Facebook post and confirmed by his manager, Kim Barry, on Monday in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. A cause of death was not specified.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Doctor Who alum Simon Fisher-Becker died on Sunday (March 9). He was 63. His agent Kim Barry confirmed his death in a statement shared with DECIDER. Barry wrote, “I lost not only a client Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing.”

A versatile character actor whose career spanned film, theater and television, Mr. Fisher-Becker was known for small, memorable roles.

Becker, best known for his roles in Harry Potter and Doctor Who, has passed away at the age of 63. Fisher-Becker was widely recognised for his portrayal of the 'Fat Friar' in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

He also appeared on such British shows as “Hale and Pace,” “One Foot in the Grave,” “Puppy Love” and “Waterside.”
