FLUSHING, New York (WKBN) — Cleveland Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams lost a bid for a no-hitter in the ninth inning in a 4-1 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon. New York’s Juan Soto broke up the no-hit bid with a solo home run with one out in the ninth inning.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Gavin Williams didn’t get the no-hitter but the Guardians did get the 3-game sweep with a 4-1 win over the Mets in New York Wednesday afternoon. Williams took a no-hitter to the 9th but it was broken up by Juan Soto’s one-out homer.

Gavin Williams came within two outs of Cleveland's first no-hitter in 44 years and the Guardians completed a three-game sweep of the reeling Mets with a 4-1 win Wednesday.
