The two schools have met only twice previously, with Loyola winning both times. Their last encounter was a 61-59 victory in Chattanooga in December 1989.

The Chattanooga Mocs play the Loyola Chicago Ramblers in the National Invitation Tournament. Tuesday's meeting is the first this season between the squads.
