Dear Abby: My husband’s parents divorced when he was young, and he acquired a beautiful, solitaire diamond from his mother’s engagement ring. The diamond was made into an engagement ring for his first marriage (which, obviously, also ended in divorce).

The pair used to have lunch together and share intimate stories, but now one is on the management track and has left the other behind.

He has adapted well in the work environment, but I’m still struggling with different personalities and communication styles. Because he’s better established at work than I am, he has become part of close circles within management.
