LSU standout freshman Derek Curiel delivered a counterpunch after the Longhorns took their first lead in the fifth, taking Max Grubbs deep to left field to restore LSU's advantage. Thanks to a pair of standout defensive plays by LSU shortstop Steven Milam, the Longhorns were retired in order in their half of the inning.

LSU baseball traveled to face No. 8 Texas in what is the SEC's biggest baseball series of the weekend. The series got underway on Friday night with LSU picking up the win. The Tigers entered the game 3-0 in conference play after sweeping Missouri last weekend. A four-run seventh inning gave LSU all the insurance it needed as LSU won this one 8-2.

Clemson scored two runs in the ninth inning to earn a comeback win vs Georgia Tech in the series finale. The Tigers (26-5, 6-3 ACC) won the series 2-1.
