Sonic was no stranger to time travel stories in his video games. Sonic CD saw the blue hedgehog using Time Stones to run through history to defeat Dr. Eggman and rescue Amy Rose.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3's post-credits scene teases that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will adapt Sonic CD, and if this is the case, than Sonic the Hedgehog 4's story will feature time travel.

As you’ll see in the tweet below, one source claims that Sonic The Hedgehog 4 will feature “time travel elements.” To be clear, this isn’t confirmed by SEGA, Paramount, or even Jeff Fowler.

Both Metal Sonic and Amy Rose were introduced in the Sonic 3 post-credits scene, which would then heavily hint at Sonic 4 being a take on the time travel antics of Sonic CD.
