The company at the heart of the artificial-intelligence revolution, OpenAI, just raised money at a $300 billion valuation, as the publicly traded AI stocks advanced on Tuesday.

OpenAI on Monday revealed it is getting up to $40 billion in new funding. The new funds arose out of a fundraising round for the AI company in which SoftBank Group is serving as the lead investor.

OpenAI said on Monday it would raise up to $40 billion in a new funding round led by SoftBank Group at a $300 billion valuation to advance AI research, expand computational infrastructure and enhance its tools.

OpenAI's new image generator, powered by its GPT-4o model, is now available to all users, CEO Sam Altman said in a post on X. The feature was until now available only to paying users of ChatGPT. While it is not clear how many images users on the free tier can generate,

However, the moderation filter hasn’t been removed completely. OpenAI has made it clear that safeguards have been strengthened around images generated of children. It will detect and block any attempts of prompts that involve inappropriate content in this area, as well as doing the same for uploaded images.

Now everyone, even free users, can say goodbye to warped and misspelled text in their image generations - and hello to looser safeguards.
