Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call from climber on Helvellyn, having been unable to pitch a tent in the severe weather conditions.
A spokesperson from the MRT added: "It was established the casualty had set off on foot from Windermere Train Station around 5am and was intending on going to Helvellyn to camp for the night.
