A German supermarket giant is preparing plans for a new store in Surrey. Lidl is hoping to launch a new “modern” supermarket on the edge of the county with townhouses and apartments attached.

Over a decade after Lidl bought the old Good Companions pub in Hamsey Green, a revised planning application is in the pipeline for the abandoned site on the border between Croydon and Surrey.
