Batman: Caped Crusader does, however, take a bolder direction in its setting. Outside of storytelling ambitions, Batman: The Animated Series’ unique art direction made it visually memorable.

Batman: Caped Crusader is a vision of Batman’s world that’s too dark for a Robin – but we do get an Easter egg nod to not just one but all of the kids who have put on a Robin suit.

They trust that the “ Batman: Caped Crusader ” audience won’t need a constant barrage of background in order to keep paying attention.

Batman: The Animated Series (1992-95) creator Bruce Timm has also developed Batman: Caped Crusader. However, he doesn't go all X-Men ‘97 on it by picking up where he left off.

Caped Crusader is a show about a grown adult trapped forever in a child’s costume fantasy because of a single, painful moment of his vanished youth. And on the other side of the TV screen is Batman.

To report there is little new about “Batman: Caped Crusader” is borderline irrelevant. The character is nearly 100 years old.

But "Caped" isn't so showy or loud that it can't fit in among all these big-budget, big-screen Batman stories. It found a niche in its setting and runs with it in the most entertaining way possible.
