Charli XCX scores early win with song of the year at 2025 Brit Awards - Ahead of the ceremony she was announced as having won the songwriter of the year award.

Taking place at the O2 Arena in London, the 2025 Brit Awards featured performances from US megastar Sabrina Carpenter, fresh from her triumphant double-win at the Grammys, former Little Mix-er turned solo star Jade, indie heroes Sam Fender and The Last Dinner Party, and this year’s recipient of the prestigious Rising Star award, Myles Smith.

Charli xcx cleaned up at the 2025 BRIT Awards while Danny Dyer had some strong words for Chappell Roan and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Charli XCX will collect the songwriter of the year award at the upcoming BRIT Awards. The Brat star is the recipient of the honorary prize, which has previously been won by British acts Ed Sheeran (2022), Kid Harpoon (2023) and most recently, Raye (2024).

This is Charli XCX's second award of the night and third overall at this year's Brits. From Irish singer-songwriter CMAT's 'cheeky' dress in 2024 to Freddie Mercury's last public appearance in 1990, the Brits have never just been about the music.

The ceremony at London's O2 Arena, hosted by Jack Whitehall, also featured a special tribute video to Liam Payne.
