US stocks retreated on Tuesday as investors digested the latest wave of corporate earnings, economic data, and various tariff updates. Palantir (PLTR) stock jumped roughly 7% after the company's earnings report beat expectations and revealed its revenue had topped $1 billion in a quarter for the first time.

All the three major US stock indices edged higher during the early minutes of trade on Thursday as the chip tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump include broad exemptions. The S&P 500 rose 0.73% while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 1.21%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also climbed 0.18%.

The S&P 500 edged down by 0.1 percent after climbing earlier in the day to the edge of its record, which was set late last month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 330 points.
