Waymo will temporarily limit robotaxi service in all of its nationwide markets, the company said Friday, as US cities prepare for a wave of protests of federal immigration policies and law enforcement and military crackdowns on demonstrators. The Alphabet subsidiary will stop service in Los Angeles altogether.

Waymo's robotaxi service will be suspended during Saturday's "No Kings" demonstrations after at least five of its vehicles were torched during earlier protests in downtown Los Angeles against Trump administration immigration policies.

The company said it doesn't think the vehicles were intentionally targeted, but that it had paused rides in downtown LA.
