Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

The size of the huge blazes, along with difficult weather conditions and the emergence of smaller fires, have extended firefighters’ timelines. “It’s going to be a slow, arduous process,” one official said.

Containment on the Palisades and Eaton fires grew overnight after winds that have plagued the region began to die down. But officials stressed that there is still much work to be done in the fire zones before residents can return.
