Members of the California National Guard arrived in the Los Angeles area Sunday morning after being activated by President Trump.

On Sunday, President Trump deployed the military to face off against thousands of people protesting immigration raids. The confrontation took place outside the Metropolitan Detention Center and included around 300 National Guard troops who lined up with riot shields and fired tear gas at protesters.

Tensions in Los Angeles escalated Sunday as thousands of protesters took to the streets in response to President Donald Trump’s extraordinary deployment of the National Guard.
