The first group of immigrants has arrived at a new detention center deep in the Florida Everglades that officials have dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Hundreds of immigrants awaiting deportation will arrive Wednesday night at the detention center the state built in the Everglades, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced on X. A spokesperson for the governor’s office told reporters Wednesday morning that the timing for arrival of detainees depended on the U.

"If somebody were to get out, there's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide — only the alligators and pythons are waiting," Uthmeier told "Fox Business."
