At Apple’s WWDC 2025, most of the design buzz centered around a new UI material called “Liquid Glass.” It’s shiny, it refracts light, it’s very Apple. Apple’s VP of Human Interface, Alan Dye, called it the company’s “broadest design update ever,” and it’s definitely a very different look and feel across all of Apple’s devices.

Apple Inc. unveiled the most sweeping software redesign in its history, aiming to make the company’s device lineup more cohesive and useful, even while doing little to upgrade its struggling artificial intelligence platform.

Resizable windows, a new menu bar, and smarter file controls make the iPad feel less like a blown-up iPhone and more like a Mac.

Given the updates to iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe, it’s no wonder that iPadOS 26 is getting its own makeover, too. But Apple is calling this update “the biggest iPadOS release ever,” and we don’t think that’s just PR-speak.
