French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, on Wednesday filed a defamation lawsuit against American conservative commentator Candace Owens over the "outlandish, defamatory, and far-fetched fictions" she's pushed online, including her claim that Brigitte was born a man.

The suit seeks damages after the podcaster claimed Brigitte Macron is a man. The French president and his wife said the statement caused “pain to us and our families.”
