Former Timberwolves and Lynx chief executive officer Ethan Casson was named president of the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Casson and chief operating officer Ryan Tanke left the Wolves organization when Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez took over as owners; Tanke was named COO of the Houston Rockets in June.

Ethan Casson will oversee the team's day-to-day operations. Casson has previously served in executive roles in Minnesota and San Francisco.

The Mavericks on Tuesday named Casson, 51, as team president. Casson will report to CEO Rick Welts and oversee most of the day-to-day business operations.
