Colorado State hired Niko Medved's top assistant to replace him as basketball coach following a quick 24-hour search. Ali Farokhmanesh, 36, was promoted Wednesday evening after Medved left earlier this week.

Ali Farokhmanesh will become the 21st head coach in Colorado State men’s basketball history. ”I am thrilled that Ali will continue leading our men’s basketball program, now as head coach,” Director of Athletics John Weber said.

The College Basketball Crown will feature a name, image and likeness (NIL) prize pool in the tournament's inaugural running. Despite finishing last in the Big 12, the Colorado Buffaloes are one of 16 teams headed to Las Vegas to compete.

Colorado Buffaloes fans are in particular luck. Not only do we get to watch the NCAA Tournaments as spectators, but we also have the NIT, the women’s WBIT — in which the Buffs sadly lost to Gonzaga — and now the College Basketball Crown.

The College Basketball Crown unveiled its trophy -- a gold crown -- for the winners of the 16-team men's postseason tournament. It will begin Monday.
