From Yankees closer to Mets starter: How Clay Holmes learned he’s starting on Opening Day
Holmes has gotten praise from his team for being one of the first players to report to camp, weeks before pitchers and catchers had to. As a result of his preparation, he got started the Mets' Grapefruit League opener, where he threw three perfect innings.
When the Mets play the Astros in Houston on March 27, Holmes will make his first start since he was a Pirates rookie in 2018.
