By Xiuhao Chen and Liz Lee BEIJING (Reuters) -Extreme weather killed at least 30 people in Beijing after a year's worth of rain fell in a matter of days, stretching the Chinese capital's disaster management capabilities and prompting some experts to call the city a rain trap.

At least 30 people have died in Beijing and more than 80,000 were evacuated to safety, Chinese authorities said, as heavy rains and floods ravage roads and houses in northern China. Eight other people died after a landslide on Monday in Chengde city, about three hours northeast of Beijing.

Heavy rains prompted flood warnings as a landslide killed at least 4 people, forcing thousands to evacuate as rising waters caused widespread damage.
