A 4-year-old Rock Island girl who was reported missing after an apparent kidnapping during an auto theft, triggering a statewide Amber Alert, was never missing, police said at a press conference Thursday.

Earlier in January, the group sent multiple volunteers to help search for a four-year-old, who police now believe was never missing in the first place.

Authorities said Serenity Turner-Douglas was last seen with Megan LeCour at Elkins High School on Wednesday afternoon.
