The Yankees have turned their attention to the pitching staff, in particular the bullpen, as Thursday's trade deadline draws near.

Last week, the Mets made their first big splash before Thursday’s MLB trade deadline when they acquired two-time All-Star Gregory Soto to be a lefty specialist in the second half. Adding more arms to the bullpen is rumored to be a top priority.

There's a widespread assumption that the New York Yankees still have plenty of business to get done before the MLB trade deadline. That includes a need for more starting pitching. ESPN's Jorge Castillo predicted Tuesday morning in a new article that the Yanks will call up Pittsburgh to make it happen.

Right-hander Luis Gil is scheduled to make what will probably be his final rehab assignment start on Tuesday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He hasn’t pitched in pinstripes this year, sidelined since he suffered a high-grade lat strain way back in spring training.
