With the Trump administration rolling out stricter immigration and deportation policies, many Indian students are finding themselves tangled in a web of uncertainty and financial strain. Several students say they are being randomly asked to show visa documents and student IDs by ‘officers in uniforms’.

At least 104 Indian citizens were deported from the United States Tuesday night on a military aircraft, according to officials from India’s Punjab state, as US President Donald Trump makes stemming migration a top priority.

A U.S. military aircraft carrying scores of undocumented Indian nationals landed in northern India on Wednesday morning, according to a Reuters video.

The first group of Indian nationals has been deported back to their home country. India is one of the top sources of illegal immigrants in the U.S.

The Pentagon has said it plans to deport more than 5,000 migrants held by U.S. authorities in El Paso, Texas, and San Diego, California.
