Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are reportedly looking into a deal to buy Spanish second tier club Malaga.Once a contender in the latter stages of the Champions League, Malaga have endured a staggering decline over the past decade and last season played their football in the country’s regionalised third division.

A delegation visited Malaga's club facilities in February to evaluate a potential acquisition as FSG seeks to develop a multi-club model.

The former Barça footballer was sentenced to four and a half years in prison last year and has spent more than a year in pre-trial detention for the alleged rape of a young woman in a nightclub. View
