The PlayStation 2 is still the best-selling video game console of all time, having sold more than 160 million units to customers worldwide. But the Nintendo Switch ain't far behind. In fact, it's inching ever closer to that record every month and a former Sony executive now reckons it can actually overtake the PS2 - as long as the Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't get in the way.

Even if the Switch 2 doesn’t do as well as the first Switch, Nintendo has a plan to beat scalpers as well as Sony and Microsoft.

In a surprise announcement during the latest Nintendo Switch Direct, Patapon 1+2 Replay, a remaster of the first two Sony-published titles, was revealed for the Nintendo console. Despite Sony publishing Lego Horizon Adventures on Nintendo Switch last year, this remaster will instead be published by Bandai Namco.

In January’s announcement of the Switch 2, the new Joy-Cons made a big impression. Now bigger and able to attach magnetically to the new console, there are also minor design refinements. There’s already some color below the analog sticks, but what if Nintendo expanded on this?

In the small print of an explainer about its new Virtual Game Card system for digital purchases, Nintendo appeared to confirm that some Switch games will get enhanced versions for Switch 2 — or at any rate, versions native to the Switch 2 console.

The original Patapon team revealed their spiritual successor, Ratatan, last year, which looks to contain all of the rhythm-based hallmarks of the PSP original. That one's also set to come to Switch at some point, so brace for even more drum delights down the line.

Switch was like a game tutorial for new ways to play on Switch. The collection of weird little collaborative two-player games encouraged you to look away from the TV or Switch
