Michael Proctor was fired by Massachusetts State Police Wednesday for his actions in the Karen Read investigation.

During the trial, Read’s lawyers accused Proctor of manipulating evidence and conducting a biased investigation. They based that allegation in part on text messages Proctor sent to friends, relatives and supervisors that showed him using offensive and vulgar language to describe Read.

The state police officer testified during Read’s trial that he sent profane texts insulting her, but insisted they didn’t impact the integrity of the investigation.
