Mountain View is adding these new AI capabilities to Colab with advanced features such as code completions, natural language for code generation, and a helpful chatbot.

It now also features integration with Google's other products and can export code to Colab, the company's cloud-based notebook environment for Python, as well as help users write functions for Sheets.

In its announcement post, Google says these features come to Colab through Codey, a generative AI model focusing on coding. It is based on PaLM 2 and was detailed at the recently concluded I/O 2023.

In a recent policy change, Google has banned deepfake-generating AI projects from Colab, its platform for hosting and running arbitrary Python code.
