EDMONTON — Already missing Leon Draisaitl because of an injury, albeit one that’s believed to be minor, things went from bad to worse for the Edmonton Oilers when they started Thursday’s third period without Connor McDavid.

Edmonton Oilers superstar captain Connor McDavid will undergo an MRI on Friday, one day after sustaining a lower-body injury in the second period of a 4-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. McDavid appeared to get hurt after being bumped by Winnipeg defenseman Josh Morrissey in his pursuit of the puck in the Jets' zone.

Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch did not have an update on McDavid, who sustained a lower-body injury during the second period, or goalie Stuart Skinner, who went into concussion protocol following a collision in the crease with Jets forward Gabriel Vilardi at 15:03 of the third.
