Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC is expanding investment in the United States because of large U.S. customer demand, its CEO said on Thursday, adding that its production lines there are already fully booked for this year and the next two years.

TAIPEI (Reuters) - The CEO of chipmaker TSMC <2330.TW> will hold a press conference at Taiwan's presidential office at 5:00 p.m. local time (0900 GMT) on Thursday, the president's office said, days after the company announced major investment in the U.S. which requires government approval.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s top executive stressed that the company’s plan to spend an additional $100 billion in the US won’t affect investments at home as he sought to reassure the Taiwanese public of its commitment.
