Stargate, a high-profile artificial intelligence infrastructure project trumpeted by US President Donald Trump this week, will exclusively serve ChatGPT maker OpenAI, according to people familiar with the matter.

Under the Trump administration, OpenAI and other members of the tech sector are making a push to establish AI dominance in the U.S.

Trump called Stargate the “largest AI infrastructure project, by far, in history.” OpenAI said in a press release that Stargate is a “new company which intends to invest $500 billion over the next four years building new AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the United States,” adding that it will begin deploying $100 billion “immediately.”
