The Pacific Northwest is staring down a rare spring severe thunderstorm threat and Texas is preparing to see up to half a year’s worth of rain by the weekend as March continues its streak of unusually disruptive weather.

More light showers are possible Friday morning, but here's a look at exactly when rain chances end and temperatures warm up again.

The Greater Houston area expects to see a heavy rainfall threat Friday. Latest computer modeling has the heaviest rain falling to the southwest of the immediate Houston area and that is where the flood watch has been issued through 7PM Friday by the National Weather Service.

A storm system slowly continues moving across through South Texas today, bringing high rainfall amounts through Friday. If traveling through South Texas, ensure you give yourself plenty of buffer to reach your destination and obey road closure signs.

Despite flooding concerns across South Texas, the late-week rain will help Corpus Christi, which is experiencing a severe drought. The drought is so Corpus Christi is under water restrictions that limit watering for lawns, gardens and cars. Lake Corpus is also a reflection of the consistent dry conditions - the lake only 20% full.

Gov. Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to get state resources ready as strong storms moved through the state.
