On a day that didn’t produce many smiles for the world’s best, Patrick Reed certainly got the crowds at Oakmont Country Club going with a rare albatross on the par-5 fourth hole during the opening round of the US Open.

As a green jacket winner, Patrick Reed will always be a part of Masters lore. But now, he has a piece of Oakmont history as well. The 2018 Masters champ pulled off the rarest of golf feats on Thursday at the U.

On the par-5 fourth hole, Reed recorded an albatross, also known as a double-eagle, which occurs when a player records a score of three strokes under par on a single hole. It's just the fourth albatross in U.S. Open history at Oakmont Country Club since records began being kept in 1983.
